What is MOTS-c?

MOTS-c is a peptide derived from mitochondrial DNA, first discovered by Dr. Ping Ling and a research team at the University of Southern California. This peptide was identified in mitochondria, the powerhouses of cells.

One of the most well-known properties of MOTS-c concerns its possible role in metabolism regulation. Studies suggest that this peptide may be involved in mechanisms regulating the body's energy balance, particularly in connection with glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. A study published in Cell Metabolism showed that participants who received MOTS-c exhibited improved muscle function and increased physical endurance. Other research also suggests positive effects on cognitive functions and sleep quality. It is also assumed that MOTS-c acts as a signaling molecule between different cells and organs, which can contribute to reducing inflammatory processes and influencing cellular aging.

Potential Benefits

Although research on MOTS-c is still in its early stages, scientific studies indicate several possible benefits: support for metabolism regulation, possible improvement of glucose tolerance, support for insulin sensitivity, promotion of muscle function and physical performance, possible improvement of physical endurance, reduction of chronic inflammatory processes, support for immune function, possible improvement of sleep quality, support for cognitive functions, possible improvement of cardiovascular health, support for mitochondrial function, and possible reduction of the risk of metabolic diseases.

Mechanism of Action

MOTS-c acts as a mitochondrial signaling peptide, playing an important role in communication between mitochondria and the cell nucleus. It influences glucose uptake in muscle cells, regulation of energy metabolism, activation of metabolic signaling pathways, and adaptation of cells to metabolic stress.

Dosage and Use

The dosage may vary depending on the objective and the protocol used. A frequently mentioned usage is 2.5 mg every five days, or 50 units every five days with a dosing pen (1 unit = 50 µg). The injection is administered subcutaneously in the abdominal area or the front of the thigh. Wait approximately 10 seconds before removing the needle and regularly change the injection site. A pen contains 200 units of 50 µg and lasts approximately 20 days depending on the dosage.

Common Combinations

MOTS-c is often combined with CJC-1295 without DAC (growth hormone stimulant to support hormonal regulation and regeneration), Ipamorelin (selective GH secretagogue that can support cellular energy production), and PEG-MGF (associated with muscle growth and recovery after intense physical exertion).

Possible Side Effects

To date, few side effects have been reported in scientific studies. In rare cases, the following symptoms may occur: headaches, nausea, and mild digestive upset. These effects are generally mild and transient.
